Overview

Kaikoura Marine Development Programme (KMDP), on behalf of the Kaikōura District Council (KDC) is seeking registrations of interest (ROI) from contractors (lead and subcontractors) and tradespeople, for the construction of a hospitality building and community and events outdoor space at Wakatu Quay.

In 2020 KDC was granted $10.18 Million from the Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) administered by MBIE to kick-start the Wakatu Quay project.

The Kaikōura District Council (KDC) is the lead partner for this project, their project contribution brings the total budget to $11.25 Million.

In 2023 KDC and MBIE agreed to a staged approach for the overall development of the site. Stage One includes the following scope:
• Design and construction of a hospitality building, ready for a tenant to occupy.
• Preparation of the site through delivery of civil infrastructure, roading and landscaping to provide outdoor public and recreational areas, able to be utilised for community events throughout the year.
• Preparation of the site to ensure it is ready for future development and with services available for future buildings on the site.

The ROI closes at 5.00pm on Friday 10th May 20204
